• Exhibition: L’avent demain, Hortense Bertola
L’avent demain is an evolving, poetic installation consisting of a “piece of storytelling furniture”, halfway between a book and an altarpiece[^An altarpiece is a vertical object made up of sculpted or painted decorations. It is usually installed behind the altar table in a religious building. It can be made of wood, metal, ivory or stone. It may consist of several shutters.
In religious buildings, the altarpiece can be presented in different configurations, depending on the worship service, and it is traditional to leave it open if it has several shutters during Christmas celebrations. The altarpiece is also used as a decorative element for the altarpiece.
“Finally, the photographic triptych housed in the Franche-Comté wardrobe will be activated in a performance on the evening of the opening and on each emblematic date in December. From the 6th, the symbolic date of Aunt Arie’s visits to Franche-Comté households, to the 25th (Christmas Day) and the 21st, for the celebration of the Winter Solstice. The installation will transform over the days, revealing new magical, dreamlike images.”
