Alexandre Caretti - Artistes plasticiens au lycée
March 2023
Résidence Artistes plasticiens au lycée* CFA Valdoie, Valdoie and LEAP Saint-Joseph, Les Fontenelles.
Alexandre Caretti, born in Besançon in 1996, obtained his DNSEP diploma from the Haute École des Arts du Rhin in 2020. He is no stranger to 19,Crac, having curated Fiasco Chéri with his colleagues from the « No Name” teaching group in the same year.
Alexandre Caretti’s artistic work is a translation of his emotions, memories and intuitions, focusing on ‘home’ and collective energy. His artistic proposals explore gender stereotypes, invisible social norms and the pressure of public image, drawing inspiration from retro sci-fi imagery, pop culture and folklore. They all seem to share a common thread of various ghosts, more or less familiar.
During his residency as a visual artist at the lycée*, Alexandre Caretti used the game as a space for experimentation and co-construction. For a week, he invited students and teachers to take part in a collective adventure aimed at imagining and building a projection room, an ideal collective living space in their lycée. This project served as a matrix for the co-production of works, furniture and scenography, as well as for writing workshops.
The artist paid particular attention to mistakes and clumsiness, because, in his view, “failed pieces of furniture can very easily become successful sculptures”.
- « To make the works, the public, the artists and the exhibitions experience adventures. That’s what drives me » *.
