My house is full of my friends. I invited them to show their work with mine. I make works that look like furniture, so there might be a rug for a sculpture, a daybed for a painting, a cocktail glass for an installation, a floor lamp for a performance, a bedside table for a photograph or a desk lamp for a book.

Casabella is like a holiday home that you leave all year round, waiting to return to once summer arrives. All year round, it remains filled with the furniture and memories that are attached to it. This exhibition is a bit like that: a big house without its inhabitants, where memories are imbued in every chair, painting, sofa, bed, video, rug and light fixture.

Alexandre Caretti

Alexandre Caretti’s artistic work is a translation of his emotions, memories and intuitions, focusing on ‘home’ and collective energy. His artistic proposals explore gender stereotypes, invisible social norms and the pressure of public image, drawing inspiration from retro sci-fi imagery, pop culture and folklore. They all seem to share a common thread of various ghosts, somehow familiar. For this exhibition, Alexandre Caretti has chosen to invite a dozen artists to show their work as part of a collective effort.

Alexandre Caretti’s exhibition at the École d’art de Belfort also follows on from the Artistes Plasticiens au Lycée residency he led with students from the CFA de Valdoie and the Lycée professionnel Saint-Joseph des Fontenelles in October 2023.
