Ju Hyun Lee
Dress for plants (shade #1)
Outside {Ecole d'art de Belfort}
In close conjunction with the exhibition Pas de cerise sans noyau at the 19, Crac, Ju Hyun Lee has been invited to create a permanent site-specific work, Robe pour plantes (ombrage #1), and a public lecture, Matières et vivants dans l’art contemporain, at the École d’art de Belfort in April 2023. Taking her inspiration from a 1977 dress by fashion designer Paco Rabanne, and substituting cherry stones for the original pearls and small wooden cubes, she produces a drought-proof covering for the plants in the school’s hanging gardens. The pine supporting structure of this shade is covered with the same pigmented flour-based paint used for her sculptures at the 19, Crac.
The vernissage for Robe pour plantes (ombrage #1) will take place on Wednesday 5 th of April 2023 at 6.30 pm. Preceded by the artist talk: Matières et vivants dans l’art contemporain at 5.30pm.
At the École d’art de Belfort (2 avenue de l’Espérance, 90000 Belfort).
Robe pour plantes (ombrage #1) is produced by the École d’art de Belfort in collaboration with the 19, Crac of Montbéliard.
